At Open Doors Baptist Church, our sermons are thoughtfully selected to address the specific needs and concerns of our congregation in today’s world. We consider both the spiritual and personal aspects of our members’ lives when preparing each message.

This process involves assessing our collective spiritual growth, recognizing current challenges, and identifying areas where encouragement or support may be needed. The aim is to share messages that are not only timely but also deeply relevant to our everyday experiences.

Each sermon is prayerfully chosen by the individual delivering it, with the purpose of providing encouraging and faith-building teaching from the gospel. In times like these, we all benefit from hearing the Word in ways that strengthen and uplift us on our spiritual journey of faith.

Here are some sermon topics that have already been delivered, along with the corresponding scripture references used to support each message.

We are grateful to share with you our daily devotional messages from our affiliation with Our Daily Bread, a ministry that reflects our shared biblical values and vision. Through this partnership, we provide daily devotionals that uplift, inspire, and encourage spiritual growth in alignment with God’s Word.

We invite you to explore both past and current messages below. Feel free to click the links and share these inspirational devotionals with others you never know who may need a word of encouragement today.

The Social Dilemma – Psalm 145:1-8

The average person checks his or her phone 150 times a day. Let that sink in a minute. Our phones have our attention—sometimes for our good, but sometimes not. Tristan Harris has concerns about this. He’s one of the voices in a film that features some of the top names in technology, people who ushered us into the world of social media. But instead of praise, their voices are sounding an alarm, calling our reality (and the film) The Social Dilemma. https://odb.org.uk/2025/04/05/a-spiritual-dilemma/

Never Beyond Hope – Jeremiah 29:10-14

“You’re an alcoholic. You always will be.” Doctors and therapists said she had fallen too far. The best Sarah could do now was manage just one more day.

Yet when she found herself in a Christian rehabilitation centre, Sarah encountered a starkly different message. https://odb.org.uk/2025/04/05/a-spiritual-dilemma/

Love God. Love Others – Ephesians 4:1-6

I stopped behind a car at a red light the other day and noticed a bright sticker on the rear window boldly stating: “New Driver. Please Be Patient.” Given all the road rage we hear about (or experience), what a great reminder to be patient with other drivers. https://odb.org.uk/2025/04/08/bearing-with-one-another/

Forgetting Our Sins – Isaiah 43:18-25

Julie and her husband felt sadness and regret when they learned that their daughter had been shoplifting. But with God’s help, when she came to them weighed down with sorrow, they forgave her—and they helped her make restitution and receive counselling. Some months after the revelation, when their daughter made an offhand comment about how they might not trust her anymore, Julie wondered, what does she mean? She didn’t immediately think about her daughter’s offence because God had removed the sting of it from her mind. She had decided not to dwell in the past but had asked God to help her forgive.  https://odb.org.uk/2025/04/09/forgetting-our-sins/

The Wright Sister – Romans 16:1-12

Most people know about the Wright Brothers—Orville and Wilbur—who invented, built and flew the first successful airplane in the early 1900s. But few know the name Katherine Wright. Yet in her brothers’ story of creating their flying machine, Katherine was essential to their success. While her brothers concentrated on the myriad details and experiments that led to their invention, Katherine chose to quietly and lovingly help them. She kept their bicycle shop going (the brothers’ source of income), left her teaching job to nurse Orville back to health after a plane crash and managed the endless details of her brothers’ growing fame. https://odb.org.uk/2025/04/10/the-wright-sister/

Good Grief – 2 Kings 2:7-14

A man named Hidesaburō Ueno taught at Tokyo’s Imperial University in the 1920s. Every afternoon, he returned on the 3:00 p.m. train to find his dog, Hachiko, waiting for him. One day Professor Ueno suffered a stroke during class and died. When he didn’t get off the afternoon train, Hachiko lingered a while then went home. The dog returned the next day at 3:00, and the next day, and the day after that, for ten years. Hachiko’s loyalty touched the hearts of many people who came to sit with him. https://odb.org.uk/2025/04/11/good-grief/
